In conversation with Marcela Pardo Ariza, Leila Weefur, Maryam Pugh, Lukaza and more!

TALK BACK TALK OUT is based on a talk series that Nook Gallery in Oakland, CA produced in Fall of 2016 and Spring of 2017, which featured over 10 womxn of color artists, thinkers, curators, writers, educators, based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

TALK BACK TALK OUT carves out space and time to listen to and prioritize the work and research of womxn artists of color in a world that doesn't often put their voices first. TALK BACK TALK OUT recognizes that it is a radical act for artists of color to have the space to share their work. TALK BACK TALK OUT might look like a report back from a recent project or a presentation of research or an artist talk or a screen printing session or the creation of ritual. TALK BACK TALK OUT is for silenced voices, it is for us. TALK BACK TALK OUT invites you to archive these voices into the future we are working so hard for. TALK BACK TALK OUT thinks about the sustainability of these voices in our communities. TALK BACK TALK OUT is loud and gives power!

In this iteration, Nook Gallery has teamed up with Philadelphia Printworks, to host an evening of talks with artists, thinkers, curators, writers and educators based in Philadelphia and the Bay Area!
