PPW presents bay area musicians Spellling and Kohinoorgasm plus Philadelphia based DJ BB Basura.
Spellling is Chrystia Cabral. Haunts and Hymns. Electronic doom, acoustic swoon. SPELLLING performs live improvisational analog synth/vocal/ love songs of the afterlife. Sacramento born, and bay area based. SPELLLING is inspired by all women of color currently making genre bending art-music around the bay. Chrystia formed the project SPELLLING in early 2016 beginning with looped based soundscapes.
Kohinoorgasm (one word: ko-hee-noor-gasm) is the experimental pop music project of Josephine Shetty. As a mixed race, queer, desi artist, she seeks to expand conceptions of multidimensional identity-based experiences by writing and performing reflections on complex histories and emotions. She has performed at universities, museums, festivals, traditional music venues, and DIY spaces across the United States. Josephine is born and based in Los Angeles, CA.
BB Basura is a Venezuelan born, Philly based multidisciplinary artist. Creating meaning in the in-between, in the cracks of conflicting identity - through a sort of double vision of sound - she creates new ruptures and spaces for an unfamiliar land.
